Success has its lovers and pioneers. It makes such a deep impress on the soul. Pioneering educational institutions are those which keep providing society with such creative scientific projects of knowledge that generate such a unique interest through their intellectual beauty.
Scientific chairs are examples of the notions that have started the way to create a principled knowledge community that thrives with the production of science and knowledge in all its branches. Prince Sultan Chair for Youth Research and Hisbah Issues is one of the scientific projects with a special message that derives its value and importance from its role of creating harmony and compatibility between the social group of young people and the hisbah system. While discussing youth has always been associated with hopes and aspirations, the contemporary discourse on young people should take into consideration the dynamics of social change as well as youths’ exposure to the world around them as a result of the new variables that they live.
Prince Sultan Chair for Youth Research and Hisbah Issues aspires to become a research center distinguished in developing mechanisms and programs that reach to young people and reinforce in them the behavioral values that would contribute to the development of their community and taking it to a pioneering status in all fields.
It is our hope that the chair will fulfill its mission through the analysis of youths’ intellectual and behavioral problems and the proposal of successful solutions to them in order to reach the stage of “khairiyah” as it is described in the Quran: “You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah” (Alimraan-110).
I would also like to emphasize here the role of the chair in developing the field performance of hisbah in interaction skills and connecting to others, especially the youth group which the chair targets, in addition to encouraging teamwork among young people in order to make the most of their energy and employ it in the development of their community and the reinforcement of their sense of pride in its achievements and history.
His Royal Highness, Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz’s support has granted the chair its distinguished status and confirmed our wise leadership’s continuous efforts to bestow its care on youth and their welfare.
Finally, I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to the University of King Abdulaziz, represented in His Excellency, Prof. Osamah Taieb for its support of this chair and its attention to its projects which have been the driving force behind its marsh to reach its set plans and become such a creative addition to the constellation of scientific chairs that our pioneering university supervises.
